Luxury goods are often associated with extravagance, indulgence, and excess. However, over the past few years, a growing number of consumers and brands are recognizing the importance of responsible luxury - a concept that combines high-end products with sustainable and ethical practices.

As a student pursuing a Master's degree around the topic at GCU London, I was deeply interested in the intersection of luxury and sustainability. So when I heard about the Responsible Luxury Summit, an annual conference organized by the Sustainable Luxury Academy, I jumped at the opportunity to attend.

The summit is an interactive event that brings together industry leaders, academics, and students to explore the challenges and opportunities of responsible luxury. It's also a platform for presenting the manifesto, an official outcome of ongoing research by the Sustainable Luxury Academy, Mazars, and Politecnico di Milano.

In 2016, I attended the summit as a student and brought my knowledge and insights from my Master's dissertation on sustainable supply chain management in the fashion sector (read the abstract here). I was blown away by the diverse perspectives and discussions around responsible luxury, and it left a lasting impact on me.

Fast forward to two years later, I was honored to return to the summit as a tutor. This time, I was in a position to help guide and inspire students who, like me, were passionate about the concept of responsible luxury.

As a tutor, I led a group of students in a workshop on "Sustainable Materials and Innovation in Luxury." It was an exciting and rewarding experience to facilitate discussions and see the students' enthusiasm and creativity in exploring new ways to integrate sustainable materials and innovation into luxury products.

The Responsible Luxury Conference provided me with a unique opportunity to learn, network, and contribute to the discourse around responsible luxury. It's a testament to the conference's commitment to bridging the gap between theory and practice and fostering the next generation of responsible luxury leaders.

In conclusion, my journey from student to tutor at the Responsible Luxury Conference has been an incredible and fulfilling experience. It has inspired me to continue exploring and advocating for responsible luxury practices and to share my knowledge and insights with others who share my passion.
